PAdES (PDF Advanced Electronic Signatures) enables advanced electronic signatures and is regulated by the ETSI EN 319 142 standard. PAdES specifies precise profiles, making it compliant with the ETSI standard for digital signatures.
ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) has the function of issuing technical standards by delegation in the EU eIDAS Regulation.
eIDAS is a European regulation that consists of two parts. One regulates electronic identification (eID) and the other regulates additional services (AS). The purpose behind the eIDAS is to achieve a satisfying security level for electronic identification and its additional services.
Signatures that are according to the eIDAS regulation is legally enforceable in all EU member states. It is directly applicable without implementing or interpreting legislation.
By using PAdES certification on a signature, the signature is according to the eIDAS regulation and ETSI technical standards.
ECIT Sign has two types of signatures, either by on screen or by electronic identification (eID). Both signatures is according to the PAdES standard, and thereby automatically according to the eIDAS regulation.
